Filip van België appeared on Facebook, the medium par excellence to communicate directly and personally with the people. The prince was looking to make contact and had a story to tell. His friends were daily reading his announcements, reports, musings and messages and commented on them. The ‘Filip van België’ profile page also contained pictures of the prince and the world he lives in.
Later on, the friends were able to watch videos with personal messages on everyday life. Filip also appeared on various public places and reported about his encounters on Facebook and YouTube. His visit to the baby elephant Kai-Mook in the Zoo of Antwerp is a very nice example hereof.
Result
As a result the prince has more than 3000 friends on Facebook. Many of them react daily and intensively to his questions and remarks. And on his own YouTube channel the encounter with the little elephant has already more than 8000 views.
Thanks to the stories on Facebook, Filip was noticed by the media. First there was the radio. MNM and Q-music both had an interview with the prince.
